Altitude: 3,293 meters (10,804 ft)
Significance: Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna.
Yamunotri is the first Dham of the Char Dham Yatra and is also the source of the sacred Yamuna River. The temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, is located in the Garhwal Himalayas range.
Pilgrims trek around 6 km from Janki Chatti to reach the temple. The hot water springs, especially the Surya Kund, are major attractions, where devotees cook rice and potatoes as prasad and offer it to the Ma Yamuna.
Location: Uttarkashi District, Uttarakhand.
Altitude: 3,100 meters (10,200 ft).
Significance: Dedicated to Goddess Ganga.
Gangotri Dham is on the bank of Bhagirathi which is the origin of the holy River Ganga. The temple was renovated by General Amar Singh Thapa. Snan at Gangotri washes the sins and makes us able to worship Baba Kedar and Badri Vishal. This place is also known for deep meditation.
Location: Rudraprayag District, Uttarakhand.
Altitude: 3,583 meters (11,755 ft).
Significance: One of the twelve Jyotirlingas and Panch Kedars of Lord Shiva.
Kedarnath is famous as people say the winds directly come from heaven here, this is one of the most visited religious destinations in the world.
Kedarnath temple is in the Kedar valley and is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, including the Mount Kedar dome, Kedarnath temple was built at the time of Dwaper Yug (at the time of Pandavas) and later Aadi guru Shankaracharya ji revived this and rebuilt it.
The trek to Kedarnath is 16 km from Gaurikund, but helicopter and pittu services are also available.

Altitude: 3,300 meters (10,827 ft).
Significance: Dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
Badrinath is the final and most significant stop of the Char Dham Yatra. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Badri Narayan) and is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River. The Tapt Kund, a natural hot water spring, and the Neelkanth Peak provide a breathtaking view. The temple remains open from May to November.
Char Dham yatra opens with the Kapat of char Dham and the date is not fixed it opens as per the Jyotish Gandan (time to open).
The best time for Char Dham Yatra is during the summer months from May to June and post-monsoon from September to October. The temples remain closed during the winter due to heavy snowfall. But during winter you can offer prayer in Joshimath and Ukhimath
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. Helicopter services are available for Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Dehradun are the nearest railway stations and from these railway stations, you have to take private or public vehicles for your Yatra.
A range of accommodations is available from budget lodges, homestays, Dharamshala, tents, and GMVN guest houses, to luxury hotels. Booking in advance is advisable, especially during peak seasons and make sure that once booking is confirmed then start the journey.
